The Care Quality Commission registers and regulates health and adult social care providers in England. For a new domiciliary-care provider, CQC needs to understand what service is being proposed, who is behind it, who will manage it and whether the application is complete and credible.

A CQC application is not a branding exercise and it is not only a form. It is the first serious test of whether the proposed provider understands the responsibility it is asking to take on. If the application is incomplete, inaccurate or unsupported, CQC can reject or return it. That can delay the start of the business and force the applicant back into a new application cycle.
