The document that tells CQC what service you are actually applying to run.
CQC expects registered providers to keep an accurate and up-to-date Statement of Purpose. For a new provider, it is one of the documents that must match the application, people, regulated activity, locations and operating model.
What it needs to do
The Statement of Purpose explains the provider, the service, the regulated activity, where the service operates, who it supports, the aims and objectives, and the people responsible for delivery. It should not read like generic marketing copy. It should describe the real service you are applying to register.
Why it matters
If your Statement of Purpose says one thing, your application says another and your business plan says something else, the application starts to look weak. CQC should not have to guess what service you are proposing, who it is for or who will be responsible for it.
